It Gets Better Project Pledge Reaches 500,000 Supporters
More than 500,000 people have taken the It Gets Project pledge since the project’s launch in October, 2010, helping us share our message of hope with LGBT youth.
The project hit this milestone during the Tuesday, February 21 broadcast of the It Gets Better special on MTV.
Our pledge, a central feature of itgetsbetter.org is: “Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I'll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work. I'll provide hope for lesbian, gay, bi, trans and other bullied teens by letting them know that ‘It Gets Better.’”
“The goal was a hundred videos,” Savage told the Hollywood Reporter earlier this month. “We crossed our fingers hoping we’d get a hundred videos so there would be this kind of small online resource where I can send LGBT kids who wrote to me and say, “Go here and watch these videos.”
