Here are some excerpts for inspiration!
How has it gotten better for you?
"Today I'm volunteering, playing sports in an LGBT league and have a wealth of people in my life who know and love me for who I am. There is only one me - and that me is awesome. It's a long way from when I cried myself to sleep; things I never imagined possible have happened. I just wish someone had been there to tell me that it gets better... Because it's true."
- David from Toronto, Ontario
How have you been working to help LGBT youth?
"I am currently a member of GSA and best friends with many gay and bisexual people. Our school participated in GLSEN's "Day of Silence." We are trying as a whole to get those people who are homophobic to tolerate that they can't get rid of people and can't stop people from being who they are. After we get them to tolerate, we are going to work on acceptance. I pledge to continue on helping it get better and stopping anyone who plans on not making it get better."
- Tyne from Connecticut
How has the It Gets Better Project helped you?
"I want to say...your project saved my life. As I graduated high school, a close friend gave me the It Gets Better book, and it is the one thing that I have always carried with me. It is a source of inspiration for me, and...it's kept me going. Your project has saved my life. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."
- Gay teen from Wisconsin
